1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron Air Cadets Presentation

We very much enjoyed the opportunity to visit air cadets and staff of 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron on Thursday 09 February 2017, who have very kindly chosen The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund as their charity of the year.

Captain David Seath served as a cadet with 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron prior to attending Sandhurst Military Academy and serving with distinction as an Officer of 19th Regiment Royal Artillery and 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

We delivered a presentation describing our work providing financial grants to wounded, injured and sick personnel and veterans in partnership with Help for Heroes. Cadets were keen to learn how beneficiaries have used the financial grants, provided by The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund, to rebuild their lives following physical and psychological trauma.

Following our presentation, cadets shared a wide of ideas with us in terms of how they can support the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund this year, including sponsored running, bake sale, collections and a race night. We also discussed ways we can support cadets working their way through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme through playing active roles in the organisation of our fundraising events.

1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron said:

“1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron and its cadets and staff are excited to embark on this exciting partnership with The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund. During his time as a cadet on the squadron David worked his way to becoming a cadet sergeant and amassed a collection of awards and accolades, he was an inspiration to his peers and made a huge impact on those he met and whilst our cadets did not meet him, his presence still remains strongly in the squadron’s history and archives. Our cadets are proud to call him one of own and are keen to be a part of his legacy.”

Gary Seath, Founder of The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund said:

“We are delighted that 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron have chosen The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund as their charity of the year. David gained such a wide range of experiences as a member of the squadron which provided an important grounding for his later career as an Officer in 19th Regiment and 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery. We look forward to working with the air cadets and staff on a whole host of fundraising activities.”

Our sincere thanks to 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron for their continued support of The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund.
