We are delighted to announce that Team Edinburgh Napier University completed the #EMF2018 Marathon Relay in an incredible time of three hours and forty-five minutes.

The team, who work together in Development and External Relations Department of the University, have raised over £400 in support of the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund, which supports personnel and veterans living with life-changing physical and psychological trauma in partnership with Help for Heroes.

The team, which included Ben Waite, Craig Shearer, Alan Bree and Gary Seath, generously nominated The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund as a result of working alongside Gary, who established the fund following the tragic death is brother of Captain David Seath (29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery), who died running the 2016 Virgin London Marathon.

Gary Seath said:

“Sunday proved a fantastic, memorable day and I am overwhelmed with regards to commitment and dedication the guys have demonstrated in terms of their preparations and application which, ultimately, has led to the fantastic finishing time. I am also very thankful my colleagues Leigh Dilks, Karen Goodman, Alison Punnet and Lucille Bluefield, who generously gave up their Sunday to support our efforts.

“It’s overwhelming when I think about what has been achieved through the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund and the warmth and support I have received at Edinburgh Napier University as well as the fundraising initiated by colleagues is greatly appreciated by both my family and I.”

So far, the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund has supported two hundred and fifty personnel and veterans living with life changing physical and psychological trauma through Help for Heroes, the charity Captain David Seath was running for during the 2016 London Marathon.

Alan, Ben and Craig said:

“It was great to get behind such a worthy cause and our participation was made only possible to a strong sense of team spirit as well as the support and encouragement of friends, family and colleagues at Edinburgh Napier University. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has made a donation in support of our efforts and look forward to taking on future marathon relay events as Team Edinburgh Napier University.”

The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund is making a huge and lasting difference to its beneficiaries. Every donation made in his memory is used to support Help for Heroes’ Quick Reaction Fund (QRF) which provides specialist sports equipment, respite breaks and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) therapy, as well as facilitating supported employment placements, training courses and the setting up of small businesses.
